Gordon Mantle

The CTC is administering a scholarship fund established in honour of the late Gordon Mantle, who passed away in spring of 2018.

Gordon Mantle was the Secretary of the CTC Board of Directors from autumn 2009 until spring 2018. Active in theatre since childhood, he was a singer, actor, stage manager and sound designer. He had served on the boards of White Rock Players’ Club, Langley Players, Vagabond Players, and Fighting Chance Productions. Gordon received an award for Outstanding Contribution to Community Theatre in 2012 and a CTC Lifetime Achievement Award in 2017.

Application Guidelines and Criteria
The Gordon Mantle Memorial Scholarship will be awarded annually to an individual entering a program in a field of study related to theatre and/or stagecraft; e.g. set, lighting, sound, wardrobe, hair, or makeup design; prop building; scenic painting; production or stage management; direction; playwriting; choreography; musical theatre or dance.
    • Candidates must demonstrate proof of acceptance or enrolment into the program(s) for which the scholarship applies.
    • This scholarship does not apply to out-of-province courses.
    • The scholarship is open to people aged 16 years or over.
    • The amount of each scholarship will not exceed $500.
    • The granting of any scholarship(s) and their amount(s) shall be at the sole discretion of the CTC Scholarship Committee.
    • Applicants may be asked to meet with the CTC Scholarship Committee for a brief interview.
